Department of International Trade - Exporting UK Businesses

We helped SMEs access the export opportunities that transform businesses – and the UK economy.

Mobilising UK businesses

HM Government has committed to support 100,000 additional UK businesses sell their goods or services overseas by 2020. We help the Department for International Trade to mobilise the business community to achieve this goal. But how do you encourage SMEs who don’t think there’s a market for their offering to understand that there is?

Proving that exporting is great

To show that real demand was out there, we designed an online hub that housed thousands of live export opportunities sourced by DIT from around the globe. We used live multi-channel communications to drive people directly to them. The fully integrated campaign broadcast live opportunities through TV, radio, DOOH and display in a dazzling media takeover launched at the start of Export Week.

Starting new conversations

In the first four months of the campaign, we had 11,300 export applications, with over 40% of those coming from new exporters. We showcased £350 million of export opportunities from all over the world and reached 81% of the SME population, with new conversations starting on Twitter every 30 seconds at launch. Since the campaign, we’ve also been enlisted to help DIT with their new ‘Invest’ campaign.
